5 tips to grow your small business (or soon to be business) in 2023

If you are looking to grow your business in, start a business, or earn enough revenue from your side hustle to quit the 9-5, here are 5 tips I recommend in helping you reach your business goals in 2023.

1. Target and speak to your ideal client as much as possible: Do you know who your ideal client is? Could you pick them out based on their social media profile or attending an in-person event? If not, this is something you definitely something you want to focus on going into 2023. You should know as much as you can about them so that your messaging compels the right person to take the next step in your sales funnel. It is tempting to try to appeal to everyone and as many potential customers as possible, but where you most resonate and connect with a client is when you get specific on who you are targeting.

2. Work on creating an irresistible freebie that a site visitor can download in exchange for their email address. Think of what an ideal client would LOVE to get for free to help them solve their problems. This also could be a quick video training or tutorial. If they are so wildly impressed by your free material, imagine what they would receive if they hired you! Getting them on your email list is also a way to cultivate trust with potential customers over time.

3. Show up on social media consistently by planning your marketing strategy in advance. Really think about how you want to make your followers feel when they see your content. Do you want them to giggle, feel inspired and hopeful, feel happy etc. We are all busy and time can slip away but the better organized you are and plan out the days/weeks/months ahead - the more consistent you will be & it will show.

4. Cultivate trust by showcasing social proof. Your ideal client wants to see before & afters or recent testimonials. If you are just starting out and do no have testimonials or before and afters yet, it may be worth doing a small job at no cost in exchange for a knock-out testimonial or before and after. Make it a habit to ask clients for a review and to make it even easier for them, write the testimonial yourself and ask for their approval!

5. Make networking a priority to build referral partnerships & ambassadors. You never know which new connection you make could be the game changer for your business or personal life. Spend time each week requesting to set up 1:1’s, coffee dates, etc. with people who you think can add value to your business and vice versus. We are lucky to have social media at our fingertips so the opportunity in targeting the right people is endless! Joining formal networking organizations and attending in-person networking events are other great ways to make valuable connections.
